Suncreek UMC, Allen, mission team members were in Juarez, Mexico, Oct. 15-19 to build a home for a family in the neighborhood where a memorial was erected to the late Rev. Kathleen Baskin-Ball, former pastor of Suncreek UMC.
Janet Hunt, Director of Community Ministries for Suncreek UMC, says, “It made everyone on the team feel Kathleen’s presence in an extra-special way. Kathleen would have been so happy for us to help the family

that received the new home.
Hunt explained that the family had lost their three-year old daughter, Mia, two years ago when someone who was celebrating the New Year’s Eve holiday shot a gun into the air, and one of the bullets came down through the tarp roof of their cardboard home and killed her as she slept.
The family has since been blessed with the birth of a little boy, who ironically was born on the anniversary of Mia’s death.
The new home was built near a memorial recently erected in memory of former pastor Rev, Kathleen Baskin-Ball, that was financed through the generosity of Suncreek UMC members.
