TEAM COVENANT
As members of this Team, we covenant to support and honor one another as well as the Mandate, Vision, and Goals of the Anti-Racism Team in order to further the work of dismantling racism in the North Texas Annual Conference. We are all on this journey together.
v We will honor each one's place and pace as we move forward together.
v Each of us has a story to tell. We will honor each other's stories.
v We are committed to the task of this Team and to learning the skills to help others join us on this path.
v We will nurture one another and our Team, listening carefully to each other, seeking to create a safe and liberated space to be open, honest, and vulnerable without fear.
v We commit ourselves to giving this journey the time, attention and priority it deserves, and we pray that God will strengthen our team and keep us moving forward.

OUR HISTORY
The North Texas Conference Leadership Team, which includes the Bishop, District Superintendents and other Conference leaders, called the North Texas Annual Conference to acknowledge our personal and institutional racism.
2001 The Conference Leadership Team approved an Anti-Racism Initiative. A 40-member Anti-Racism Team was trained to engage us all in a long-term process of understanding and dismantling racism within the NTC and our congregations.
2003 An Anti-Racism Plan, including a 20-year vision and 5-year goals, was approved by the Annual Conference to be implemented by the Anti-Racism Team.
2004 17 persons were trained to serve on the Anti-Racism Team with 23 of the original team members; all have completed the 5-day training. In addition, the Conference Leadership Team completed the 2.5 day training, Understanding and Analyzing Systemic Racism.
2006 The North Texas Conference approved adding the 2.5 day Anti-Racism training as a requirement for ordination beginning in 2008.
2008 The first class of residents completed the 2.5 day Anti-Racism training. Four Anti-Racism Team members continue to work with Crossroads Ministry to complete the requirements to become trainers for future classes and groups.
